Hello Wonga Wizard members,

We held our AGM last Thursday, and I am delighted to report a fabulous turnout. I’m pleased to advise that we have successfully allocated all of our executive committee roles. I’m happy to confirm that Tyler Daniels (aka Spud) will be taking the reins as President, with the support of Daniel George, who has stepped up as Vice President, along with the broader committee. Please join me in congratulating Tyler and Daniel in their new roles – they are fantastic ambassadors and I look forward to seeing what they bring to the club.

The minutes for the AGM are attached, along with all the other roles and details, should you be interested.

This year, we are seeking more volunteers, and we will be offering opportunities for community members to contribute to the community spirit that defines our club. These roles will require no more than 2 hours per week, and each position will come with clear guidelines. We are particularly in need of coaches, so if you have an interest in the game or a desire to learn, please let us know. We will provide training for all coaches this year to ensure continuous support.

We are eager to gauge the numbers for the upcoming year, given the significant demand across all age groups, especially for our girls’ and women’s teams (inspired by the power of the World Cup). As a result, we are requesting expressions of interest to play next year. This process is free, and registrations will not open until January. Depending on the response, we may even consider conducting trials. Please complete this short form to advise of your interest.

Once we have gathered this information, we will be better positioned to organise preseason training in teams. We have secured Stintons Reserve for training sessions from 5:30 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the end of March. Some teams have already commenced training, and with the numbers from the expressions of interest form, we will advise teams, coaches, and training times accordingly.

This year, our plan is to maintain the fees from the previous year, and we will retain the same kit, recognising the real impact of cost-of-living pressures. However, if your are new to the club, your child has outgrown their kit or it has become worn, you have the option to purchase new kit from our store at https://macronvic.com.au/collections/wonga-wizards-fc. Additionally, we offer some fantastic merchandise that could make for great Christmas gifts.

Lastly, building on the success of the Trivia night and Friday night football, we are excited to announce that we will be organising more events in 2024. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM. The turnout was fantastic, and we appreciate those who have joined the committee and members who have expressed their willingness to volunteer.

As for me, I’m not going anywhere. I will still be around the club, watching my son and contributing wherever possible (might even lace up the boots again!). I look forward to seeing you around.

Thank you once again for your support during my tenure as president, and I am eager to see what Tyler and the committee will bring to the club with fresh perspectives.

Cheers

Chris Joy, Tyler Daniels and the Wider Wonga Wizards Committee
